Blackfalds to conduct census starting this May

Apr 9, 2024 | 9:37 PM

The Town of Blackfalds will conduct its latest municipal census starting this May.

The online portion begins May 6, with door-to-door visits taking place May 21-July 26.

According to the Town, residents will receive their exclusive Census Security Access Code (SAC) by May 10 via delivery by enumerators. This unique and secure SAC is specific to Blackfalds addresses and is required to complete the census online. Residents who complete their census online by May 20 will be added to a draw for a chance to win one of two gift card bouquets to Blackfalds businesses ($500 value/each).

“By doing a census, the municipality can use the information to assist in planning for the community’s needs, such as future roads, the addition and location of schools, parks, utilities, protective, fire, and other services, including grant requirements,” the Town says in a release.

If you are interested in becoming an enumerator, the Town is currently accepting applications for multiple temporary positions; please see blackfalds.ca/census for details.

Contact the Census Office at 403.885.6350 or census@blackfalds.ca if you would like assistance filling out your census, if you have any questions, or if you would like to report an issue.

In the 2017 municipal census, Blackfalds counted 9,916 residents, and another in 2018 found 10,125.

The 2021 federal census tallied 10,470, while a municipal census the same year counted 11,015.
