Rebels and Blades playoffs rematch starts April 12

The Red Deer Rebels and Saskatoon Blades are both going to get a nice little rest before battling once again in the WHL Playoffs’ second round.

The two clubs squared off last spring with Red Deer winning the first three games.

But the Blades stormed back, winning four straight to complete the rare reverse sweep.

The Blades finished atop the WHL standings this regular season, with Red Deer fifth in the Eastern Conference and 30 points back.

The Rebels and Blades split their four games during the 2023-24 WHL regular season with each team winning once at home and once on the road. Red Deer won the two most recent meetings.

Red Deer closed out its opening round with the Medicine Hat Tigers in game five on April 5, as did the Blades who dropped game one but then won four in a row to knock out Prince Albert.
