Red Deer Catholic Regional Schools (RDCRS) was given two awards by the Parkland Regional Safety Committee (PRSC) this month.

At a luncheon held on March 18, Lisa Vogt, recently retired Health and Safety Manager for RDCRS, was honored with the prestigious 2024 Long Service Award by the PRSC.

The Division says the distinguished accolade, the second ever awarded by PRSC, was bestowed upon Vogt in recognition of her unwavering commitment and invaluable contributions to the PRSC over her many years of dedicated service.

“Lisa is a well-deserving and well-respected individual in the central Alberta safety community,” said Treena Dixon, PRSC’s Treasurer. “Her commitment to making our community safer is just unbelievable, and her promotion of young workers’ safety in the Kindergarten to Grade 12 schools can not be disputed. She has been our pillar.”

Upon receiving the award, Vogt expressed her gratitude to the PRSC, her colleagues at RDCRS, and the many individuals she has worked with over the years.

“It’s not really about what you do, it’s about people. Everyone here plays a role – we work together to bring safety to the community,” said Vogt in accepting the award. “Just know that all of you play an important role. And I thank Red Deer Catholic Regional Schools for always allowing me to do that. Without them, it would not have happened.”

As she steps into retirement, RDCRS officials say Vogt leaves behind a legacy of safety and an example for future generations to follow. They add that while her daily presence will be missed, her influence will continue to be felt as she remains a revered safety leader in the community.

At the same meeting, RDCRS received the 2024 Award of Distinction from PRSC in recognition of its dedication of time and resources to the committee over the years.

“Red Deer Catholic Regional Schools has played an instrumental role in helping Parkland Regional Safety Committee implement our Young Workers’ Safety Program in our local schools,” said Dixon. “We couldn’t have done it without them. They have been a fantastic partner in bringing the Young Workers’ Safety Program into Kindergarten – Grade 12 schools in central Alberta.”
