NAIT defeats RDP Queens Hockey in semi-final series

This past week, the Red Deer Polytechnic Queens Hockey team put forth a good effort, but dropped their semi-final series to the NAIT Ooks.

Here is a summary of the results:

On Friday, the Red Deer Polytechnic Queens Hockey team defeated the NAIT Ooks 3-2 in game one of the best-of-three semi-final. Julie Wagner, Hayley Kolosky and Chloe Belter scored for the Polytechnic. Queens goaltender Izzy Palumbo, who is a Bachelor of Commerce student, made 30 saves.

In Edmonton, the Ooks edged the Queens 2-1 in game two, evening up the series. Wagner, who is a third year forward from Clive, scored the lone goal for the Queens. Palumbo turned aside 32 shots.

In the final game of the series, the NAIT Ooks picked up a 2-0 decision over the RDP Queens on Sunday. The Ooks advanced to the finals. They will face the Lakeland College Rustlers. Palumbo, who is from Golden, made 26 saves.
