Local MPs mourn former prime minister Brian Mulroney
Local Members of Parliament are sharing their thoughts and messages on yesterday’s passing of former conservative Prime Minister Brian Mulroney.
Mulroney died at 84 surrounded by family in a Florda hospital. While the cause of death was unconfirmed, family members said he had battled prostate cancer in 2023 and a heart surgery following in the summer.

A Quebec-born lawyer and businessman, Mulroney was the country’s 18th prime minister, with his Progressive Conservative party taking over the Liberals of Pierre Elliot Trudeau with 211 seats in the House of Commons in 1984, the largest majority mandate in Canadian history to this day.
