Red Deer Lions Speed Skating member to be flag bearer at Alberta Winter Games

Nathon Kettyle-Kozuback, 15, will represent Red Deer Lions Speed Skating Club as a flag bearer for Zone 4 at the Alberta Winter Games this weekend in Grande Prairie.

Club officials say Nathon has been speed skating with the club since 2014 and will be competing in the 500m, 1000m, 1500m and team relay short-track events. The Club says this talented young skater competes in both long and short track disciplines.

Officials note, cross-over skaters are rare, since it requires separate facilities, an advantage the City of Red Deer has over the majority of Alberta communities.

At the February 3- 4 Neo Jr. Canadian Long Track Championships in Fort St. John, BC, Club officials say Nathon placed 4th out of 27 in three events; 500m, 1000m and 10-lap mass start. He also finished 8th in the 3000m race.
