Temperature records broken throughout some areas of central Alberta Thursday

Officials with Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) note some temperature records set throughout some parts of central Alberta on Thursday.

According to meteorologists, the Breton area set a new record of 14.6 degrees Celsius on February 1, beating the old record of 11.8 degrees Celsius set in 2005. Records in this area have been kept since 1939.

The Nordegg area set a new record of 13.4 degrees Celsius for February 1, beating the old record of 12.2 degrees Celsius set in 1935. Records in this area have been kept since 1915.

The Sundre area set a new record for February 1 of 12.6 degrees Celsius, surpassing the previous record of 9.9 degrees Celsius set in 2020. Records in this area have been kept since 1993.
