Prime Stock Theatre Artistic Director, Richard Beaune, appointed new Artistic Producer of The Shakespeare Company in Calgary

Prime Stock Theatre is pleased to share that Artistic Director, Richard Beaune has been appointed as the new Artistic Producer of The Shakespeare Company based in Calgary, Alberta, effective February 1, 2024.
However, the organization says Beaune will continue to guide Prime Stock Theatre through the production of the annual Bard on Bower Shakespeare Festival to ensure an orderly transition for them through its signature production.
Originally from Ontario, Richard Beaune relocated to Red Deer and became Artistic Director of Prime Stock Theatre in 2021 following a theatre and film career spanning three decades. Officials say he holds a Masters in Fine Arts from York University. In addition to the Bard on Bower Festival, highlights of Richard Beaune’s tenure at Prime Stock Theatre include the 2022 production of The Games of Love and Chance, which he translated from its original French, and the 2023 Solo Shows Festival which featured contemporary plays from across Canada.

His appointment as Artistic Producer of The Shakespeare Company is a testament to not only his talent but also the positive reputation of Prime Stock Theatre and the vibrant theatre scene in Central Alberta.
