Hometown athlete Jocelyn Peterman reflects on Grand Slam of Curling in Red Deer
Jocelyn Peterman and Team Lawes didn’t reach the heights they’d hoped for at this past week’s Grand Slam of Curling in Red Deer, but it was still a treat for the hometown curler to compete in front of friends and family at what was, by all accounts, a very successful event.
Peterman’s squad, comprised of herself, Kristin MacCuish, Selena Njegovan and Kaitlyn Lawes, finished with one win and three losses, and unfortunately didn’t make the weekend playoff round.
But keep in mind, the event featured the world’s 16 best teams, so ultimately some great teams were bound to lose regardless.
“We were a little disappointed to not make the playoffs, and we thought we were playing pretty good, but we had some tough matchups and close games,” says Peterman. “We now have the Manitoba provincials to practice for and compete in right away, so we have to learn from this event and take the positives.”
