CASA Mental Health classrooms to launch in Wetaskiwin, Red Deer and Medicine Hat
Three schools — one each in Wetaskiwin, Red Deer and Medicine Hat — are launching CASA Mental Health classrooms.
The innovative program is possible thanks to a partnership with the Government of Alberta, and aims to support students facing complex mental health challenges while continuing their education.
Students in these classrooms students receive individual therapy, group therapy and psychiatric care to support their recovery.
Schools launching the program in February are Wetaskiwin Outreach school, Escuela Vista Grande School in Red Deer, and Southview Community School in Medicine Hat. That will make it eight schools across Alberta with one, and with 12 more on the way, all representative of a $30 million investment over three years by the province.
