Vancouver man wanted in organized theft scheme that hit Red Deer
A business in Red Deer is among those affected in relation to a recovery of stolen property, police in Strathmore, Alberta said this week.
Strathmore RCMP say it was Sept. 12, 2023 when their general investigation section, along with Rocky View County Enhanced Unit, were contacted by a business owner in Rocky View County who suspected stolen property may be stored within their rental units.
Search warrants were executed, resulting in the recovery of four skid steers and a stolen F350 truck. RCMP say affected businesses between Calgary, Edmonton, Red Deer, and Airdrie were identified, all seemingly the victims of fraudulently rented heavy equipment, some of which remained unrecovered.
With assistance of the affected businesses investigators, RCMP were able to track more equipment to a job site in Langley, B.C. Another search warrant in Langley led to two more mini excavators and a skid steer being recovered.
