RCMP confirms two killed in collision near Bassano

The RCMP has provided an update on a fatal collision in southern Alberta.

At approximately 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, officers were called to a collision on Highway 1 and Range Road 191 in Newell County, just west of Bassano.

The investigation from the RCMP reveals that a truck with three occupants was travelling westbound in the eastbound lanes of the highway and collided head-on with an SUV that was travelling eastbound.

The 16-year-old driver of the SUV, a resident of Leduc, was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. The 37-year-old female passenger, from Leduc, was pronounced deceased on scene.
