CNIB Mobile Hub coming to Red Deer November 7

Oct 25, 2023 | 9:56 AM

The CNIB Mobile Hub is coming to Red Deer on next month.

Put on by the organization formerly known as the Canadian National Institute for the Blind, the event is scheduled for the downtown Red Deer Public Library from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on November 7.

“In communities where we no longer have physical offices, such as Red Deer, we are still committed to supporting our participants in those areas,” says Sandra Moody, Project Coordinator, Mobile Hub, CNIB Foundation.

“That can mean offering some programs virtually or having staff travel to the community to provide service. In Red Deer, we run both a regular peer support group and a tech support group on a monthly basis. But a big part of us supporting our rural participants are these mobile hubs, which essentially take all of our services on the road to present what we have to offer in communities where we do not have a physical office.”

Moody notes the CNIB is working on a new strategic plan called The Way Forward, which has three main pillars: Safe & Accessible Journeys, Attitude is Everything and Our Kids will Thrive.
