Rotary Club of Red Deer returns with beloved Black Tie Bingo fundraising event

Oct 19, 2023 | 1:26 PM

Put your best tuxes and gowns on in Red Deer this November because the Rotary’s Black Tie Bingo fundraiser is finally back.

Held on November 9 at the Red Deer Resort & Casino (3310 50 Ave.) at 6 p.m., guests can help the Rotary Club of Red Deer raise funds for various community organizations and causes.

After a three-year hiatus of the formal gala due to the pandemic, the group is bringing it back for their 100th year anniversary as a service club in Red Deer.

“People have been waiting for it to come back, and now that it’s here, we just want to get the word out and make sure that everybody is aware, and come out for a good time,” said Rob Stryker, Black Tie Bingo Chair.

He hopes to see between 500-600 guests for their 28th Black Tie Bingo event.

“It’s just always been a really popular black-tie event. You can come and you’re not really expected to do anything but just come and socialize, have a great dinner,” said Dean Williams, Rotary Communications.

Apart from bingo and winning prizes, there will also be dinner, games, a live auction, 150 silent auction items, and more.

Williams says the event is one of their biggest fundraisers of the year, hoping to raise $100,000 with 100 per cent of the proceeds going back into the community through supports and donations.

“The big thing that our club does is we kind of gage the need in the community so that if there’s a current issue that needs our support, the community and our club really rallies behind supporting that,” said Williams.

Tickets can be purchased online or by filling out the ticket sheet and emailing it to bingo@rotaryclubofreddeer.ca. Donations are still being accepted for auction items.
