Red Deer Queer Community Association launches fundraising campaign
Following the 1 Million March for Children Protests held in many communities throughout the country last month, officials with the Red Deer Queer Community Association say the need for a safe place for 2SLGBTQIA+ community in Red Deer is needed now more than ever.
The Red Deer Queer Community Association has launched a fundraising campaign to raise $5000 for a Coffee shop in Downtown Red Deer. Officials say this coffee shop, run by the RDQCA, will be open to everyone and provide a safe space for the 2SLGBTQIA+ community in Red Deer and the surrounding area to meet and socialize with other community members.
Over the last couple of years, the organization says there has been a sharp increase in hostility towards the 2SLGBTQIA+ community in Canada, with anti-2SLGBTQIA policies being introduced in several provinces, says the RDQCA.
As a result, the organization has decided that the community in Red Deer and the surrounding area needed a community-safe place to meet and be themselves.
