Blackfalds RCMP seize drugs and gun in traffic stop, search warrant

Blackfalds RCMP have seized various drugs and other items in connection to a local drug trafficking investigation.

It was Sept. 5, 2023 when RCMP observed a person who appeared to be selling drugs from a Toyota Camry in the Blackfalds area. A traffic stop was initiated and the suspect was arrested.

During the traffic stop, members seized:

  • 86.8 grams of suspected Methamphetamine
  • 5.6 grams of suspected Cocaine
  • 93 Percocet pills
  • A loaded prohibited/Restricted firearm
  • $5100 in Canadian Currency
  • 16 grams of suspected Fentanyl
  • Other pills that are not yet known.

Evidence from the stop led RCMP to a Sept. 6 search warrant being executed at a hotel in Red Deer. A search of the room allegedly turned up the following:

  • 28.3 grams of suspected methamphetamine
  • 8 grams of suspected Cocaine
  • 12.6 grams of suspected Fentanyl

RCMP have arrested and charged a 28-year-old female resident of Blackfalds with:

  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (x4)
  • Possession of the Proceeds of Crime
  • Weapons offences (x4)
  • Failure to Comply with Weapons Prohibition Order (x2)
  • Fail to Comply with Release Order (x2)

The woman has been remanded with her next court appearance set for Oct. 19.
