Lacombe man scheduled for preliminary hearing in Lac La Biche shooting incident

A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for a central Alberta man charged after a shooting in Lac La Biche this spring.

Chervaine Dean Saddleback, 23, is scheduled to find out in Lac La Biche Court of Justice on Jan. 3, 2024, if his case has enough evidence to go to trial.

It was on May 30, 2023, when Lac La Biche RCMP were dispatched to a firearms complaint where Mounties allege a male suspect discharged a firearm at a residence. RCMP issued a Shelter in Place for residents in the area.

RCMP then contained the area and a search for the suspect was conducted, but information was received the suspect had fled the scene in a vehicle.
