Red Deer RCMP investigate assault and theft

Sep 15, 2023 | 4:22 PM

Red Deer RCMP are reminding the public to document serial numbers of personal items and to keep property locked-up to deter theft.

On Sept. 12, 2023, at 7:43 a.m., Red Deer RCMP were called to 30 Ave. and 67 St. for a disturbance taking place on a sidewalk.

According to local Mounties, witnesses reported a male exit his vehicle, push a person off a bike, and a physical and verbal confrontation ensued. Police say the male on the bike left the location, and the driver of the vehicle departed.

When police arrived on scene, extensive patrols were made and neither individual were located.

During the course of an investigation, RCMP members received further information that the male on the bike was in possession of stolen property. The property belonged to the driver of the vehicle, which he had tracked the location via GPS. Mounties say the driver retrieved his property and later reported the incident to police.

RCMP are speaking to those involved in the incident and no further updates will be provided.

In the event of theft, residents are reminded to call RCMP for assistance to recover stolen items. Confronting individuals about theft or stolen property is dangerous and puts yourself and the community at risk, say RCMP.
