Building permit values decrease slightly in August

Officials with the City of Red Deer say building permit values decreased in August, with 124 approved permits valued at $23.2 million, compared with 97 permits issued in August 2022 worth $23.4 million.
Year-to-date values remain lower in 2023, with current values at $68.2 million compared with $129.2 million last year.
City officials say notable permits include:
- Building permit for construction of a new KIA vehicle dealership at 2949 50 avenue, valued at $8.7 million
- Building permit for redevelopment of special event centre at 120-3310 50 Avenue, valued at $6.3 million
- Building permit for construction of new building at 4925 30 Street, valued at $1.9 million
- Building permit for office renovation and replacement of fire alarm system at 70 Queens Drive, valued at $700,000
- Building permit for addition of security room and covered entrance vestibule at 100-3310 50 Avenue, valued at $700,00
