Rebels sign forward 2023 pick Nickolas Kovich

The Red Deer Rebels have signed forward Nickolas Kovich to a WHL Scholarship and Development Agreement.

Kovich scored the shootout winner in Tuesday night’s annual black vs. white game, part of training camp.

Kovich, from Richmond, B.C. collected 36 points (17G, 19A) in 21 games with Delta Hockey Academy U15 Prep last season, and will join their U18 team this season.

The 6’1″, 165-pounder was selected 75th overall by Red Deer at the 2023 WHL Prospects Draft.

The Red Deer Rebels begin pre-season action Sept. 8 in Calgary. They play at home to Edmonton on Sept. 10 (2 p.m.) and against Calgary on Sept. 15 (7 p.m.) They close out exhibition play Sept. 16 in Lethbridge.
