Local Mountie given 120 day Conditional Sentence Order in assault incident
A Red Deer RCMP officer convicted of assault has been given a 120 day Conditional Sentence Order (CSO).
Kent McDiarmid, 42, was also ordered to pay a $100 surcharge by Aug. 31, 2023, in Red Deer Court of Justice last week.
McDiarmid was accused of assault in an incident which occurred on March 2, 2020.
It’s said that McDiarmid, a 15-year member and corporal, was involved in an altercation in the Red Deer detachment’s cells area which resulted in him striking an adult male who’d been arrested for public intoxication and resisting arrest.
