Red Deer Man Accused

Strathcona County RCMP seek public assistance in locating arson suspect

Jul 11, 2023 | 3:30 PM

RCMP are asking citizens to be on the lookout for a Red Deer man accused of arson last month.

On June 28 2023, at approximately 9:15 a.m., Strathcona County RCMP were advised by the Strathcona Fire Department of a residential fire at a rural residence. At the time, the lone occupant of the residence was able to escape unharmed.

Mounties say investigators from the Fire Department assisted police and determined the fire was intentionally set and a criminal investigation was launched.

As a result of the investigation, an arrest warrant has been issued for Robert Martin, 45, a resident of Red Deer. Martin is facing charges of arson-disregard for human life, and disobeying a court order.

It is believed that Martin fled the scene with another unknown male suspect in a newer model white Ford F150. Police are requesting assistance from the public in locating Martin and identifying/locating the other male.
