Red Deer County fire ban lifted

As of 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 14, 2023, the fire ban for Red Deer County has been lifted.

County officials say permits are now available online at rdcounty.ca/fire. Residents are asked to set-up your account to obtain your burn permit. A reminder that a fire permit is required for all open fires year-round, except for safe acceptable residential fire pits* within Red Deer County, note County officials.

Fire Services will continue to monitor weather patterns and should dry weather conditions return, another fire restriction may be put in place.

*Safe acceptable residential fire pits:

• A minimum of 1 meter clearance measured from the nearest fireplace edge to the nearest edge of a building, property lines, or other combustible material;

• Constructed of materials such as bricks or rocks that are non-combustible material;

• The base of the fire burning area is not less than 0.3 meters above the surrounding grade; and

• The fire chamber does not exceed 1.25 meters in width, and is at least 0.4 meters but not more than 0.6 meters in depth.
