Crews respond to residential fire in Penhold Wednesday night

Thankfully no one was hurt following a residential fire in the town of Penhold Wednesday night.

At 9:46 p.m. on June 7, Penhold Fire was dispatched to a structure fire in a manufactured home park.

Officials say four apparatus, two support units, and 22 firefighters responded to a room and contents fire with extension to three additional rooms.

Assistant Deputy Chief Shawn Flight who led the first arriving crews, noted the quick suppression efforts were key in protecting the neighbouring exposures.

“We were very fortunate to have a strong response to this fire, which allowed us to allocate resources to multiple roles on the fire ground. Ultimately, this resulted in a positive outcome with both neighbouring exposures being completely protected”.

Officials say one occupant and a dog were in the structure at the time of the fire and were able to evacuate with the help of a neighbour.

The cause is under investigation, with an estimated loss of $26,710 in property and contents.
