Man arrested in Red Deer after dangerous driving incident

May 12, 2023 | 2:57 PM

Red Deer RCMP say a man has been arrested in connection to a dangerous driving incident on May 10.

That day, RCMP received reports of a possible impaired driver who was driving dangerously throughout the city. The driver of the vehicle had allegedly struck several others and failed to remain at the scene of any of them.

Police located the vehicle a short time later, and a traffic stop was initiated. However, the driver fled at a high rate of speed.

It had been determined then that the vehicle was reported stolen the previous evening, and it was found abandoned shortly thereafter.

With help from Police Dog Services and RCMP helicopter, the driver was located operating a second stolen vehicle in a dangerous manner. That vehicle was then immobilized and the driver was arrested without further incident.

Glen Primrose, 32, of Red Deer, has been charged with the following Criminal Code and Traffic Safety Act offences:

  • Possession of property under $5000 dollars;
  • Theft of motor vehicle;
  • Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle;
  • Fail to comply with release order;
  • Operating a motor vehicle while prohibited;
  • Operating a motor vehicle while impaired by drug under sec 88.1 (4)(a) TSA
  • Resisting arrest;
  • Mischief under $5000;
  • Fail to remain at the scene of accident 69(1)(A) TSA;

Primrose had been remanded to appear in court on May 12 at 9:30 a.m.

Red Deer RCMP thank the public for their assistance with reporting the dangerous driving offences, resulting in a safe conclusion.
