Festival of Bands returns to Red Deer for two stints starting May 15

Student bands from across Alberta will descend upon Red Deer Polytechnic coming up later this month for the annual Alberta Band Association Provincial Festival of Bands.
The event goes May 15-18 and May 24-26, with about 5,000 junior, senior and community band students will participate in seven days of performances, clinics and sight-reading activities.
Prestigious adjudicators, educators and clinicians from Canada will be judging this year’s festival, organizers say.
They include Gareth Jones from the University of Calgary, Dr. Jacqui Dawson from the University of Manitoba, Tom Spila from Camrose, Mark Ward from Medicine Hat, Sarah Drew from Calgary, Colin Clarke from Oakville, Ontario, Dr. Gillian MacKay from the University of Toronto, and Ken Rogers from Lethbridge.
