Coronation celebration in Edmonton cancelled due to ongoing wildfires

As of Tuesday, May 9, 2023, the Government of Alberta says that there were 88 active wildfires with 24 being classified as out of control.

Twelve evacuation orders are in place for numerous communities in affected areas.

The province held a press conference Tuesday afternoon updating the media on the status of the wildfires raging across parts of the province.

The wildfires have caused the Coronation celebration at the Botanical Gardens in Edmonton on Saturday, May 13 to be cancelled.
