A Red Deer man accused of child luring and sexual interference involving a minor has been sentenced to five-and-a-half years in prison.

Brandon Thomas Conlin, 33, was sentenced in Red Deer Court of King’s Bench on Monday, May 1, 2023, and was also given a lifetime firearms prohibition after being convicted of luring a child and sexual interference.

According to court documents, the offences took place between March 22, 2020 and July 31, 2020.

Conlin was initially charged with sexual interference, sexual assault, possession of child pornography, and luring a child.

According to police, after receiving a complaint from a concerned parent, a Red Deer RCMP investigation determined that a 30-year-old man had allegedly lured and committed sexual offences against a 15-year-old.

The specialized Red Deer RCMP Sex Crime Unit executed a search warrant and arrested the suspect on July 31, 2020.

Created in July 2020, Mounties say the Red Deer Sex Crime Unit works collaboratively with a number of local agencies to provide victim-focused service to survivors of sexual violence.
