Municipal Tax Rate Lower This Year

Penhold council notes

Apr 27, 2023 | 4:21 PM

Municipal tax rates in the Town of Penhold will be going down in 2023 when compared to last year.

According to Town officials, Bylaw 815/2023 being the Tax Rate & Minimum Tax Bylaw, received second and third reading this week and is now in effect. Officials note the municipal tax requirements have been reduced in 2023 from 2022.

Unfortunately, however, Town officials also point out that the provincial requisitions/demand payments went up. This means with the school fees and policing costs included, this year the average home will see an approximate 2.5 per cent increase.

Elsewhere, Nancy McAteer, Public Works Manager will be retiring from the Town of Penhold after serving the community for 25 years. McAteer’s last day of work will be July 15, 2023.

Town officials say McAteer has seen Penhold grow in size from 4 ¼ sections of land to 8.5 ¼ quarter sections to 16.5 ¼ quarter sections of land mass. Officials say much of the beautification around town is due to the efforts and vision of McAteer and her team.

“We so appreciate Nancy’s dedication, volunteerism and years of commitment provided to the Town. We wish Nancy the very best in her retirement,” reads a statement from Town officials.
