Ponoka man arrested in Wetaskiwin drug investigation

Wetaskiwin RCMP have arrested two people, including a Ponoka man, following a recent targeted joint crime suppression shift.

On March 24, members in Wetaskiwin, along with Police Dog Services, conducted a traffic stop.

During said stop, officers made observations of drug trafficking. After continuing to investigate, officers executed search warrants between March 25 and March 31 in Wetaskiwin and Millet.

As a result, RCMP seized:

  • 25 grams of fentanyl
  • 97 grams of methamphetamine
  • 20 grams of cocaine
  • A stolen motorcycle
  • Canadian currency, scales, baggies and other items associated to drug trafficking

Lauren Curtis, 43, a male resident of Ponoka, is charged with:

  • Possession of property obtained by crime
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking (x2)
  • Drive while unauthorized
  • Possession of a controlled substance.

Curtis was released from custody with a court date of April 18 in Wetaskiwin.

Lester Acorn, 38, a male resident of Wetaskiwin, is charged with:

  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking (x3)
  • Possession of property obtained by crime (x2)
  • Fail to comply with release order (x2).

Acorn was remanded, and has a court date of April 18 in Wetaskiwin.
