RDP Psychology Society hosting symposium about magic mushrooms

Mar 10, 2023 | 10:38 AM

The RDP Psychology Society is inviting you on a trip… to learn about psilocybin, more commonly known as magic mushrooms.

The annual symposium, this year entitled Take a Trip with Us – A Journey Through the History, Hype, and Hope of Psilocybin, goes March 21 from 6-9 p.m. at the Red Deer Polytechnic Arts Centre.

Expert panelists will offer a multidisciplinary perspective on the subject, exploring the therapeutic benefits and how it’s becoming increasingly used to treat mental health issues.

“We are thrilled to bring together this group of experts to discuss the exciting developments in the field of psilocybin research,” said Chiyla Hemeyer, president of the RDP Psychology Society. “We believe that education and open discussion are the key to understanding the potential therapeutic benefits of this substance, and we hope that this symposium will provide a platform for informed dialogue.”

Attendees will be able to engage in a lively Q&A session with the experts.

Organizers say the symposium is for mental health professionals, curious individuals, or someone who simply wants to learn more about the advances in psilocybin research and use.

It is open to all 18+ with tickets available by calling the RDP Students’ Association at 403-342-3200.
