Dress for Success Central Alberta’s (DFSCA) inaugural Power Lunch was a sold-out success over the last weekend, on March 7.

The International Women’s Day celebration saw Nicole Gibson, CEO and Founder of inTruth Technologies, speak to a sold out crowd about her mission to change how we understand and engage with emotions through her innovative use of technology.

“True equality is not about sameness — it’s about equal respect and appreciation for the strengths that both masculine and feminine leadership bring. If we honoured these differences, rather than forcing women to conform to outdated leadership models, we’d foster a more harmonious, balanced, and emotionally intelligent society,” said Gibson.

The event aimed to highlight community-centric solutions to create meaningful change in gender equality, including the launch of a new program aimed at supporting women and children.

DFSCA launched Mia’s Closet, a community driven program meant to honour the vision and legacy of Mia Gunter by providing clothing to women and children during challenging times. It currently serves women and children on a referral basis.

Mia’s Closet is a collaboration between DFSCA, the Central Alberta Child Advocacy Centre and Breaking the Mold Foundation. To make a donation or learn more, please visit the DFSCA website.

Additionally, two DFSCA volunteers and board members, Rachel Collin and Lee Ann Waines, were recognized with King Charles III Coronation Medals for their impact on the advancement and development of women and girls in the central Alberta community.
