Alberta Health Services offers free online health workshops

Alberta Health Services (AHS) says they are inviting locals to attend health information workshops to help Albertans make positive adjustments to their lifestyles.

The workshops are offered as part of the Alberta Healthy Living Program (AHLP), an AHS initiative designed to promote healthy living and provide easy access to helpful information. AHLP workshops are free of charge and cover a range of information, including heart health, stress management, nutrition, diabetes care and chronic illness management.

All AHLP sessions aled by AHS professionals who share their expertise in group discussions and provide support and encouragement to participants.

Upcoming Zoom workshops include:

  • Eating Away from Home and During Special Occasions
    • Learn how buffets, parties, vacation and holiday eating can affect caloric intake. Explore strategies to minimize extra calories when eating away from home and during special occasions.
    • March 8 from 6 – 7 p.m.
  • Sleep Well
    • Discover tips to help you sleep better, reasons why you may have trouble falling asleep, and the important link between quality sleep and good health.
    • March 14 from 1 – 3:30 p.m.
  • Nutrition: The Four Ps of Meal Planning
    • Learn tips on how to put nutrition knowledge into practice with the four P’s: Plan, Purchase, Prepare and Pack.
    • March 20 from 6 – 7 p.m.
  • Managing Emotional Eating
    • Learn about what influences eating behaviors. Build skills and learn tools to help manage emotional eating.
    • March 22, 29 and April 5 from 1 -3:30 p.m.
  • Nutrition Labels: Reading Between the Lines
    • Learn about label reading and understanding the nutrition facts table. Get a better understanding about nutrient and health claims. Build skills to help make the healthiest choice at the grocery store.
    • March 24 from noon to 1 p.m.
