Officials with the Central Alberta Humane Society say they’ve been made aware there are individual(s) calling people stating they are from Central Alberta Humane Society and asking them to donate to the organization.
CA Humane officials remind central Albertans to never give out your personal financial information over the phone to someone you do not know.
The organization says it does NOT cold call people asking for donations or repeat donations.
“We are extremely frustrated that our organization is being impersonated by scammers. CA Humane will NEVER solicit donations over the phone. If you receive a call from someone claiming to be from our organization and they ask for a donation, we encourage you ask for the caller’s name, what they do with CA Humane, and tell them you will call back to our direct business line,” the organization says in a statement. “Thank you for your continued support and vigilance.”
