Man charged in alleged forcible confinement incident found not guilty
A local man charged in an alleged forcible confinement incident in Red Deer’s Pines neighbourhood last year, has been found not guilty.
Todd Deschambeault, 30, of Red Deer, learned of the judge’s ruling at the conclusion of his trial in Red Deer provincial court on Jan. 10, 2023.
Deschambeault was found not guilty on counts of unlawful confinement, robbery, assault, two counts of possession of a prohibited firearm, and possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized, while one count of possession of a loaded, prohibited or restricted firearm was dismissed.
It was on March 27, 2022, when Red Deer RCMP and the RCMP Emergency Response Team executed a search warrant, resulting in one arrest, after members were dispatched to a call of a distressed male who’d allegedly been forcibly confined at a residence on Parke Avenue.
