Charges against a central Alberta woman accused in a fatal Mountain View County crash that claimed the life of an Airdrie man, have all been withdrawn.

Officials with the Calgary Rural and Regional Response Office of the Alberta Crown Prosecution Service confirm that all 10 counts against Ashley Marina Evans, 26, of Mountain View County, were withdrawn on Aug. 15, 2022, due to the accused being deceased.

Evans had been scheduled for trial in Calgary provincial court from Dec. 12-22, 2022.

It was on June 27, 2021, at approximately 9:30 p.m., when Didsbury RCMP received a 911 call of a serious multi-vehicle collision on Highway 22 near Range Road 43 in Mountain View County.

Didsbury RCMP attended. However, Emergency Medical Services and Fire Services were already on scene, according to police. Matthew Forseth, 43, of Airdrie, was identified as a male motorcyclist involved in the crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Another motorcyclist, an adult female operating a second motorcycle, suffered non-life threatening injuries that were treated in hospital.

RCMP say the occupants of an SUV, an adult female driver suffered minor injuries that were treated on scene, and the passenger was uninjured.

The 25-year-old female driver and lone occupant of a pick-up truck, from Mountain View County, involved in the collision, was located and arrested by police for impaired operation of a motor vehicle causing death. However, due to her injuries, she was taken to hospital for treatment.

Didsbury RCMP’s preliminary investigation indicated a pick-up truck was heading southbound on Highway 22 and attempted to overtake a van and lost control, striking an SUV travelling northbound.

Mounties say the pick-up truck then rolled several times into the oncoming northbound lane of traffic, colliding with two motorcycles that were traveling northbound.
