Innisfail RCMP charge male with arson

One man is facing charges after an alleged arson fire in Innisfail over the weekend.

On Nov. 26, 2022, Innisfail RCMP received a report of a fire at the Zoo hotel in Innisfail. Upon arrival, investigators ensured the building was evacuated.

Mounties say residents of the hotel using fire extinguishers as well as local fire were able to put out the fire in one of the hotel rooms quickly, with minimal damage reported.

As a result of the investigation, RCMP arrested the resident of the hotel room nearby.

RCMP have charged 40-year-old Joshua James Allen, of no fixed address, with arson and mischief.

Police say Allen has been remanded in custody with his next court appearance on Nov. 28, 2022, at Red Deer provincial court.
