Several central Albertans to receive QEII Jubilee Medal from Alberta Municipalities

Nov 19, 2022 | 1:48 PM

More than 200 community members from across the province are set to receive a Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee medal.

The medals in this case are from Alberta Municipalities (ABmunis) — formerly known as Alberta Urban Municipalities Association (AUMA).

In ceremonies over the coming weeks, the medals will be given out, and are for those who have displayed outstanding service and dedication to family, community and country.

Included in that are all sitting mayors of ABmunis member communities, the organization says.

“This represents a wonderful opportunity for you to recognize those individuals who have made outstanding contributions to your community,” it says at abmunis.ca.

To be eligible, a nominee must:

  • Be a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident
  • Have been alive on February 6, 2022, the date of the 70th anniversary of the Queen becoming Canada’s monarch
  • Have made significant contributions to Canada or a region of Alberta, community, or field. Examples of areas of significant contribution might include COVID-19, Truth and Reconciliation, diversity, equity and inclusion, or preservation of the environment.
  • Be a leader in the community
  • Be in good standing with the law and community
