Nov 12, 2022 | 9:05 PM

The Red Deer Rebels are officially in a rut, losing 6-2 Saturday night to the Regina Pats in what was the seventh of a nine-game road trip.

It was also the team’s fourth game in five nights.

Red Deer suffered its first losses on Tuesday and Wednesday to Winnipeg, before dropping one in the shootout Friday against Brandon, and then failing to solve Regina’s Matthew Kieper.

Kieper faced 38 shots from Red Deer, while Regina had just 20 on the night.

Scoring got started at the 7:00 mark when Borya Valis (9th) scored to make it 1-0 home team.

The Rebels Hunter Mayo (8th) equalized on the power play at 13:27, but 3:20 later, it was the Pats’ Tanner Howe (8th) putting Regina back on top with a man advantage marker, and it was 2-1 headed to the intermission.

In the second, it was all Regina.

Sam Oremba (2nd) scored the eventual game-winning goal at 4:10 to make it 3-1.

Easton Armstrong (7th) made it 4-1 at 8:59 of the middle period.

Howe (9th) scored his second of the night at 14:37 for a 5-1 lead, and then the phenom himself Connor Bedard (17th) scored on the power play to dig the Rebels’ hole even deeper.

Mats Lindgren (1st) got one back for Red Deer at 11:53 of the third, but that was as close as they’d come.

Kyle Kelsey made 14 saves in the loss, and is now 10-2-0-1 on the year.
