Innisfail RCMP and Fire & Protective Services host public forum

Oct 20, 2022 | 10:40 AM

The Innisfail RCMP, in collaboration with the Town of Innisfail’s Fire & Protective Services Department, will be hosting a public engagement event on Tuesday, November 15.

The event will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #104 (5108 49 Ave) at 6:30 p.m.

In early 2022, the Innisfail RCMP identified in-person community engagement as a strategic priority for the year.

This is the second community engagement jointly hosted by the Town and the RCMP. Along with updates on local policing efforts in the community, the Town says a representative from the National Police Federation will be providing a presentation on the Government of Alberta’s proposed provincial police service.

“These meetings are an excellent opportunity for people to let us know their concerns. It also gives us a chance to identify potential issues that have not been brought to our attention,” said Gary Leith, Manager of Fire & Protective Services for the Town.

Officials claim the event will provide valuable information for the audience.

“This event will give people a chance to learn about the government’s proposed changes to police services in the province,” said Sgt. Ian Ihme, Acting Detachment Commander of the Innisfail RCMP.

Members of the public are not required to register for the event.
