Red Deer’s Oktoberfest is back on Saturday for lovers of beer and dancing

Cheers to this weekend in lederhosen with a stein of beer at Red Deer’s Oktoberfest on Saturday.

On October 1, Spirit of Red Deer and Westerner Park are hosting the event at Exhibition Hall (4847A 19 St.) starting at 6 p.m.

According to Britannica, the event is inspired by an annual two-week autumn festival from the year 1810 held in Germany ending on the first Sunday of October. It celebrates German culture, dancing, food and, of course, beer.

Food stations will be available from 6:30 p.m. and a live band will be performing at 7 p.m. with dancing highly encouraged, officials say.

Tickets are on sale until Sept. 29 for $75 and include a filled beer stein and three food station coupons.

As well, the first 1,200 ticket holders will be entered into a draw for a chance to win a $3,000 travel voucher courtesy of Red Deer Regional Airport.

Guests must be 18 years or older to attend.
