Ponoka RCMP investigate shooting

One person is in hospital following an alleged shooting in Ponoka early Wednesday morning.

On Sept. 21, 2022 at 0251 a.m., Ponoka RCMP received reports of a shooting near the Leland Hotel in Ponoka.

Mounties say a victim with what appeared to be multiple gunshot wounds was identified and taken to hospital by STARS in stable condition. Police also note a collision with minor injuries reported near the hotel during this incident.

RCMP have deployed additional resources including the Central Alberta General Investigative Section to Ponoka and surrounding area to investigate this incident.
