Sentencing set for alleged Pigeon Lake abduction and beating incident
Sentencing is due to take place this fall for a central Alberta man accused of abducting and beating a woman last year.
Lionel Richard Twins, 61, of the Louis Bull First Nation, is scheduled for sentencing in Wetaskiwin Court of Queen’s Bench on Oct. 28, 2022. A decision on his case was previously scheduled for June 17, 2022.
Twins is charged with attempted murder, kidnapping without a firearm, aggravated assault, flight from police, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, resisting arrest, and two counts of assault in the January 2021 incident.
According to Maskwacis RCMP, it began around 11:00 p.m. on Jan. 19, 2021 when officers were called to the Cree Nation community of Pigeon Lake after learning an adult female had been abducted from a residence.
