Red Deer golfers stay atop leaderboard at Alberta U19 Golf Championship

Red Deer golfers continue to lead the way at the Alberta U19 Championship at the Cougar Creek Golf Resort near Edmonton.

Eileen Park of the Red Deer Golf & Country Club widened her lead atop the girl’s division after an even round 72 at the Cougar Creek Golf Resort on Wednesday.

Heading into the final round Thursday, the 13-year-old has a 6 stroke lead.

Last year in Carstairs, Park lost a dramatic playoff to champion Grace Bell but says her game has improved a lot since then and she’s ready to win this year.

On the boy’s side, Logan Graf remains tied for top spot after shooting par 72. Graf, also from the RDGCC, is tied with two other golfers.

Watch Berube, Graf and Wilson in action during the second round:

Cole Bergheim of the RDGCC fired a 77 and is tied for 13th, 6 strokes back. Alex Gerrard of the RDGCC was 78 in round 2 and sits tied for 26th, 12 back. Riverbend’s Michael Song missed the cut after a 90.

The final round is underway today.
