Red Deer RCMP return stolen plaque to City
A stolen plaque has been returned to the City of Red Deer’s Parks and Public Works department.
Red Deer RCMP say they recovered the plaque during a stolen vehicle operation on June 7, 2022. They say they arrested a male for operating a vehicle with a stolen license plate and, following a warrant to search the vehicle, found the stolen plaque in the trunk.
“This highlights a small part of the successes we are seeing from the hard work of our Crime Reduction Team,” said Staff Sergeant Karyn Kay. “The Crime Reduction Team focuses on emerging crime trends and community issues, including that of plaques stolen from public spaces and memorial benches.”
The Red Deer RCMP’s Crime Reduction Team (CRT) focuses primarily on property crimes and the investigation of repeat offenders. They say the team interacts and works closely with a range of clients and partners, using a variety of crime prevention, suppression and apprehension tactics.
