2022 Canadian Men’s Senior Championship to be hosted in Red Deer

Jun 14, 2022 | 6:00 PM

The Canadian Men’s Senior Golf Championship will be hosted this year in Red Deer.

From September 5-9, the national championship will take place at the Red Deer Golf & Country Club (RDGCC).

“The legacy of hosting the Canadian Men’s Senior Championship will provide our members, guests and the community of Red Deer and central Alberta with an unparalleled golf and social experience and will provide an opportunity to enhance the sport of golf further,” said Hugh McPherson, 2022 Canadian Men’s Sr. Championship Host Committee Chair.

The Championship has been held since 1962 and the club says it has become one of Canada’s most popular amateur golf events. At the various provincial championships held across the country, 156 male amateur golfers aged 55 or over will then qualify for this national championship. Officials say the field will include the finest Canadian Senior Golfers as well as some discretionary international exemptions.

The champion will earn a coveted exemption into the 2023 U.S. Senior Amateur Championship.

Registration opened in March 2022 and the club has confirmed that over 150 volunteers have already signed up for the event.

The RDGCC will be celebrating their 100th anniversary while hosting the championship. The club will be organizing a variety of events throughout the summer in commemoration.
