50-80 mm Expected

Rainfall Warning issued for Red Deer region

Jun 13, 2022 | 9:29 AM

Meteorologists with Environment and Climate Change Canada say a prolonged and significant rainfall event is expected this week, with 50 to 80 mm of rain by Wednesday morning.

Heavy rain is expected to begin Monday evening and persist until Wednesday.

Officials encourage you to look to your municipality and the province of Alberta (rivers.alberta.ca) for the latest information and recommendations.

Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible, officials further point out. You’re also reminded to watch for possible washouts near rivers, creeks and culverts.
