Sutter Fund Golf Classic returns to River Bend

Jun 10, 2022 | 4:04 PM

After two long years, the 25th Annual Sutter Fund Golf Classic is back and will be held at the River Bend Golf Course in Red Deer on Friday, July 15, 2022.

With the help of many sponsors since 1996, organizers say the Sutter Fund has been able to raise over three million dollars for distribution to various worthy associations throughout Alberta.

Officials say The Sutter Fund has been successful because of the efforts of their organizing committee, volunteers, golfers, and because of the sponsorship provided by many businesses throughout Canada and the US.

Brent Sutter, Brian Sutter, Judy Sutter and Connie Sutter created The Sutter Fund, which is a non-profit company incorporated in 1996, pursuant to Alberta legislation. The Sutter Fund is operated solely by volunteers. None of the funds raised are used to pay salary, wages or commission to anyone involved in its fundraising activities.

“Every year we look forward in hosting 216 golfers, as well as our volunteers, that make this event such a success,” reads a statement from the organization.

Each golfer receives a first tee giveaway package that contains items such as jerseys, golf towels, golf shoes, custom golf putters, hats, autographed hockey sticks, and coffee mugs. Along with the first tee giveaway, all golfers receive various food and beverage items provided by the event’s many sponsors throughout the tournament.

Registration night, along with a silent auction, will be held the evening before the tournament, Thursday July 14, 2022 at the Holiday Inn & Suites on Gasoline Alley and is open to the general public.
