Red Deer Symphony Orchestra to play series of concerts at seniors’ care centres

Jun 7, 2022 | 2:03 PM

The Health Arts Society of Alberta is partnering with Red Deer Symphony Orchestra (RDSO) to bring 11 shows to local seniors’ care centres.

The concerts will take place June 7-July 20 around central Alberta. They are not open to the public.

Funding for the series is provided by Canada Healthy Communities Initiatives, with additional sponsorship from Swift Insurance & Financial Solutions Inc. and The Co-Operators.

“This increase in additional funds allows Concerts in Care to broaden its musical arts programming to individuals across the province who may otherwise not have access to live programming. Concerts are free for audience members,” a release says.

“Music has therapeutic benefits such as enhancing senior citizens’ mental health and quality of life. Each concert is 45 minutes in length, and care facilities are encouraged to offer a series of concerts to provide a variety of genres to their residents.”

June 8 – Extendicare Michener Hill – Red Deer
June 17 – Villa Marie (Covenant Care) – Red Deer
June 28 – Revera Inglewood – Red Deer
June 28 – Revera Aspen Ridge – Red Deer
