Ponoka RCMP investigate assault and firearms complaint

One suspect has been arrested with police looking for a second suspect after a gun was pointed during an assault outside a residence in central Alberta this week.

On May 23, 2022, Ponoka RCMP received a complaint of an assault at a residence in the Town of Ponoka.

The investigation revealed that three individuals arrived at the victim’s home and attacked the residents outside. At one point, Mounties say a firearm was pointed at the homeowner.

Maskwacis RCMP assisted and located the vehicle involved at a residence in Ermineskin First Nation. RCMP were able to arrest one of the suspects.

RCMP have charged Randy Kale Potts, 31, of Maskwacis with:

  • Firearms offences (x5)
  • Break and enter (x2)
  • Uttering threats
  • Assault with a weapon (x2)

Police say Potts was taken before a justice and released on conditions with her next court appearance set for June 24, 2022 at Ponoka provincial court.

Meanwhile, RCMP have issued a warrant for the arrest of Sunny Don Threefingers, 33, of Maskwacis.

Threefingers is described as having a medium complexion, 5’7” tall, 170 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.

Ponoka RCMP continue their investigation into identifying other individuals that were involved in the incident.
